About Us

We—Rick, John, and Gladyshave decided to join together in a partnership in the new year, Sundberg Kennedy Ly-Au Young. Although our paths diverged over the past few years, we have been drawn back together by a shared architectural and environmental vision.

 

The Thought and Craft of Architecture.

 

Rick SundbergRick Sundberg, FAIA and LEED AP. Design Principal at Olson Sundberg Architects (later Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen) from 1976 until 2010. Born and raised in a contracting family, he graduated from the University of Washington College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

 

John Kennedy, AIA and LEED AP. John graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1987 and has spent the last 23 years designing civic and institutional projects in New York, Chicago, and Seattle. For the past 16 years, he has teamed up with Rick Sundberg on projects like the Seattle University Law School, The Seattle University Recreation and Athletics Center Master Plan, the Frye Art Museum, and the Wing Luke Asian Museum. He specializes in old fashioned hand drawn rendering.

 

Gladys Ly-Au Young, AIA and LEED AP. Gladys graduated from Washington State University in 1994. She holds a Masters of Science in Sustainable Design from Carnegie Mellon University, and brings a deep understanding of sustainable design issues to her projects. 

 

 

Mika Sundberg graduated from the University of Washington College of Arts and Sciences in 2002 with a degree in Anthropology, and graduated from University of Oregon College of Allied Arts and Architecture with a Masters degree.
